As experts in bespoke kitchen furniture, The White Kitchen Company share their story, alongside top tips on how to design your kitchen and maximise your space.

Small team, big showroom

“We are a small but ever-growing team here at The White Kitchen Company. The founders of our company Christopher and Rima, started the business from an outbuilding in their garden. Now, we have a large beautiful showroom overlooking Pitsford reservoir.
As a company, we provide customers with kitchens and furniture to last a lifetime. We aim to deliver functionality and high-quality craftsmanship within every cabinet we make. Our solid wood furniture is handmade using modern and traditional techniques and a valuable investment for any home.
We work with clients to provide a fully bespoke service from design, manufacture, installation and a lifetime guarantee. Our directors are involved in everything we do. Christopher, a skilled cabinet and furniture maker, has over 30 years of experience and our knowledge as a company is second to none.”

Conveniently ready-made

“Our kitchen cabinets are neither flat packed, made of chipboard nor require an expert to assemble. They are handmade using traditional techniques and arrive in one piece like a classic piece of furniture. This makes it easy to fit yourself, just position the units, secure them, and then add your worktop! But in reality, most of our clients opt to have them fitted by one of our recommended fitters."

5 Tips for designing your kitchen

  1. “It is useful to know what appliances you need before starting your design. This will make it easier to choose your cabinetry and the overall layout.
  2. Invest in timeless silhouettes. Trends do come and go quickly, so we recommend investing in timeless cabinetry. Our cabinets are made so you can change colours and hardware when you feel like it. What’s better than upcycling something you already own? (It also tends to be a lot cheaper!)
  3. Never underestimate how much storage you’ll need. The kitchen is the heart of the home, there needs to be room for everything!
  4. When choosing colours, it's important to know that in every light it can look completely different. Take more than just a sample card, buy a tester pot of paint and see how it looks in your space. What can look nice in the store, you could hate at home.
  5. Design your kitchen how it suits YOU best! If you love hosting, then areas for seating will be essential. If you’re a messy person, then maybe an island isn’t the best choice and creating room for a utility is?”

The pantry takeover 💹

Pantries are now very popular!!! Clients just can’t seem to get enough of them! They are highly sought after and we’re so happy to see it (they’re one of our favourites). Choosing to have a pantry also gives the option to hide appliances from worktops, meaning no clutter, and a clear surface to work on. We have a range of larder and pantry cupboards, including full ceiling-to-floor pantries and half worktop larders. And if you don’t have a huge space to work with, you might opt for a corner pantry with bi-folding doors.
Like the styles of kitchens we offer, traditional kitchen elements seem to be coming back into fashion. We work with a lot of Victorian townhouses and beautiful listed buildings around the country. It always works well to complement any original features with classic cabinetry."

A luxurious pairing 🤝

“We love how much the BLAKE handles complement our Shaker Cabinets! They work together so well and look beautiful on dark-painted cabinets. Bringing a sense of luxury, using brass details is something we’ve been seeing a lot more recently.”

How to maximise kitchen space 🤔

“To maximise your kitchen with furniture, it's important to know how you will be using your kitchen and what practical things you need to have. What may work for one family may not work for another, so every space is designed specifically for each client. For example, If you have a large family, more food storage would be a priority. So, either a walk-in larder or a worktop pantry with plenty of shelving would be essential.
To maximise your space, you could omit your dining table and opt for a kitchen island that doubles up as a breakfast bar. This is a practical way of gaining lots of storage, work surface and seating, a win-win!
In small kitchens, a curved corner unit paired with a corner sink is a perfect solution to make the most of an under-utilised area. This maximises your worktop space for prepping food and will also make your kitchen look larger.
If you have empty wall space and already have enough units, shelving is a great way to make a kitchen feel open. Just add your favourite cookery books, easy-to-grab plates and other favourite items.”

Inspo’ from pins n’ pros 😎

"Pinterest is SO great for inspiration for practically any idea or project you can think of! The feature that brings up other similar pictures to the one you’ve selected is a dangerous game, you can get lost for hours! But for consistent, inspirational content, Instagram is fabulous.
